What is Bounce Rate in Google Analytics?

It is to memorize that it will be considered bounce rate only when visitor engaged at only one page during this whole session. He didn’t open even a single another web page. That’s why sessions Google Analytics says that

“bounce rate is the percentage of single-page sessions.”

Let’s take the help of an example to understand this concept with more clearly.

Elucidation of Bounce Rate with Example

Suppose John is the visitor of this site. He opens his internet browser, entered this URL www.techsolutionsdesk.com and landed on home page. When he entered into the home page of site, time was 6:14 P.M. He does nothing on the page, nor he opens more pages, nor he read any blog post, simply landed on home page and left the site at 6:30 P.M.

John entered at 6:14 P.M on home page and from the same page he leave the site at 6:30 P.M. this is the bounce rate will be measured as following.

Bounce rate of home page= total number of visits viewing home page only / total entries to page.  [R b= T v / T e ]

R b = Bounce Rate

T v = Total number of visits viewing one page only.

T e = Total entries to the page.

Now this was an example if a visitor enters to home page of site and leaves the site from the same page.

Suppose John open Google chrome and enter a query “how to increase the blog traffic using online forums”. Search engine shows the returning results. John clicks on one result and lands on that web page. After sometime he exits from the same page without navigating further pages. In this situation the same formula which is mentioned above will be applied to calculate the bounce rate of that web page.
